A police constable and an ambulance driver were killed in a road accident on Friday.
The police constables, aged 43 and 49, were on their way to a hospital near the spot when they were hit by a car driven by a man.
The man, identified as Vijay Kumar, was arrested and taken into custody.
He is now in police custody.
The ambulance driver, identified only as Shatrughan, was travelling on the same road when he was hit by the car and was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition.
The accident has taken place just three days after a bus driver was killed when he crashed into a truck carrying cement and concrete blocks in the town of Seshadriya in western Uttar Pradesh state.
The death has shocked the state government.
“I am a mother of three girls.
I cannot sleep.
I am not sleeping.
The first thing I want to do is give my family some privacy,” Shatrueghan said.
The police constabularies’ bodies were sent for post-mortem examination, which is expected to take place on Saturday.
A post-mortem examination is also expected to be carried out on Shatregan’s body.
