The Associated Press article A Florida hospital is investigating the cause of an apparent fire in a first-aid room at its ambulance unit after a patient was admitted to the unit with suspected smoke inhalation.

Officials with the Sarasota Fire Department confirmed Tuesday that the fire was under investigation and said the fire department received a call at 10:15 p.m.

Monday reporting a “major fire” in the medical unit.

The fire, at the hospital’s medical center on the outskirts of the city, caused no injuries and no fire was reported in the building, officials said.

Officials at Florida International University Hospital in Miami also confirmed a major fire in the hospital, which is located near a large warehouse.

No injuries were reported in either of the incidents.

A hospital spokesperson said the cause and extent of the fire were under investigation.

The Sarasota County Fire Marshal’s office and the Sarasox Fire Department were investigating.
